Japanese Knotweed Removal
ONE PROBLEM !
What is Japanese Knotweed?
Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is one of the most invasive plant species in the UK. Originally introduced as an ornamental plant in the 19th century, it quickly became notorious for its rapid spread and ability to damage property, infrastructure, and biodiversity. Its bamboo-like stems and heart-shaped leaves may appear harmless, but its underground rhizome system can cause structural damage to buildings, roads, and flood defences.
Left untreated, Japanese Knotweed can devalue property, complicate mortgage applications, and lead to costly repairs.

Removing Japanese Knotweed is not as simple as cutting it back. It requires a carefully managed treatment plan and specialist knowledge to ensure complete eradication.

Is Japanese Knotweed a Legal Problem?Yes. Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is an offence to plant or cause Japanese Knotweed to grow in the wild. Failure to manage its spread responsibly could result in legal action or enforcement notices. Mortgage lenders often require professional treatment plans and insurance-backed guarantees before approving home loans on affected properties.
